Food This Good Doesn't Happen by Accident

La Rustica was born out of a simple frustration. Why should good food be complicated, expensive, or hard to find? Augusto, Patience and Chris set out to do something about that.

As a family with deep Italian roots, food has always been at the heart of everything they do. Growing up, the kitchen was where life happened, where stories were told, where Sunday stretched into evening, where the dough was always proving somewhere and the smell of something good was never far away. That connection to food, to where it comes from and how it's made, is what La Rustica is built on.

The van is new, the business is new, but the passion behind it goes back a long way. Augusto, Patience and Chris wanted to bring something genuine to their community. Not a gimmick, not fast food dressed up in Italian colours, but the real thing. Proper Neapolitan pizza, made with slow-proved dough and authentic ingredients, served fresh from a stone oven to people who deserve better than a meal deal on the way home.

That's why you'll find them outside Shortlands Railway Station every Monday and Thursday evening, because the commute home should end with something worth looking forward to. And when they're not there, they're out at farmers markets, festivals, private parties and corporate events, because great food always tastes better when the setting is relaxed, the company is good, and nobody's making a fuss.
